From 1 July 2026, cochlear implant services are delivered through a national partnership between The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme (SCIP).

The Aotearoa Cochlear Implant Programme (ACIP) is funded by Disability Support Services (DSS), Ministry of Social Development.

The Hearing House delivers services for people living from Taupō to Cape Reinga.
The Southern Cochlear Implant Programme (SCIP) delivers services for people living south of Taupō.

Together, our organisations provide publicly funded cochlear implant assessment, implantation, rehabilitation and lifelong support for eligible children and adults across Aotearoa New Zealand.

For people accessing cochlear implant services, it is important to know that there will be no interruption to care.
Assessments, surgeries, programming (mapping), rehabilitation, habilitation, follow-up appointments and outreach clinics will all continue as planned. Please continue to attend your appointments and access services in the usual way.

The Hearing House, the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme and Disability Support Services are working together to ensure a smooth transition to the new programme.

As we move into this next chapter, our commitment remains unchanged: to provide safe, high-quality, person-centred cochlear implant services and to work collaboratively to ensure New Zealanders continue to receive excellent care.
